History

Founded in 1945

The Karman Rubber Company was founded in 1945 by John R. Mann as a custom molding rubber specialist. Seventy-five years later, the company is still privately held and carrying on the rubber molding tradition. Karman Rubber Company has grown over the years with additions that encompass a 50,000 square foot facility housing 50 compression and transfer presses ranging in size from 14″ to 52″ along with modern injection presses.

In 1960, Karman Rubber Company management saw the need for our own in-house machine shop. The primary need was for a quick turnaround for mold repair, but over the years, the machine shop has turned into a high-quality facility making new molds, mold design, prototype services for our customers, tool maintenance, and mold upkeep of our custom molds. The machine shop soon became an important value-added service to our customers. The company’s dedication to become premier rubber-to-metal bonding experts was achieved and has been recognized nationally.

Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, Karman Rubber Company again dedicated its efforts toward improved metal-to-rubber bonding and product line expansion. During this time, Karman Rubber Company added new customers  who were seeking a better way to improve their products while reducing costs. Karman Rubber Company also strengthened its commitment to their expanding distributor network. Karman Rubber Company management understood that their distributors could service a customer base far better than any other source.

In the 2000’s, we continued to see controlled growth in both custom molding and rubber-to-metal parts. Karman Rubber Company reformulated many of the Neoprene and Natural Rubber Compounds. Their achieved goal was to improve the tensile strength of various elastomers, and the overall rubber-to-metal bond. There were also design improvements made to increase the strength of metal hardware.

Karman Rubber Company is proud to say that we have always manufactured what we sell right here in the USA. Our commitment to the new millennium is to find ways to attract and support our customers through our distributor network.
